|Daniel Cory Lampert, 73, of Rockport, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, November 3, 2021 at home in Rockport.
Born in 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Corrigan) Lampert.
Danny grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania and Stratford, CT. Sailing since childhood, he journeyed across Long Island Sound, and later around Sandy Bay. Growing up in Stratford, CT, and attending the American Shakespeare Theatre, he developed a love for Shakespeare’s writings. He attended art school at the University of Bridgeport in 1966, and University of Hartford in 1967. In 1968, Dan flew to Arizona and hitchhiked to California to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, where he made beautiful paintings and illustrations, earning his bachelor degree of Fine Arts in 1970. In the Bay Area, he worked odd jobs and freelance, but was mainly involved with the Unemployed Workers Organizing Committee. Dan also spent the summer of 1969 in Hawaii doing construction and farm work. He moved back to his birthplace of Pittsburgh in the fall of 1975, where he worked for US Steel – Homestead Works as a crane operator. Dan then moved to Chicago in 1979 and worked in graphic design. In 1993, he married his loving wife and partner of 28 years, Seania McCarthy of Riverside, Illinois. Dan designed exhibits at the Field Museum in Chicago, and began work in educational publishing, designing text books. He continued to do freelance projects until his untimely death.
In the year 2000, Dan, Seania, and their three sons, Aedan, Rowan, and Liam moved from Illinois to their beloved town of Rockport. Here, he and Seania created Twin Lights Design, a graphic design studio. Dan and Seania were Cub Scout Leaders and he helped lead Troop 20 Rockport Boy Scouts for many years, and saw two of his sons make Eagle rank. Dan loved to hike the trails of Dogtown and South Woods with his family, often stopping to identify flora and fauna. He was an avid reader of science-fiction novels, particularly in the works of Isaac Asimov and Ursula K. Le Guin. He loved looking at the stars in the night sky, especially in Rockport. In 2008, Dan, Seania, and their three sons opened R3Sons Fun Emporium in Rockport. In 2011, Dan and Seania became the set designers and technical directors of the Rockport Middle School drama department. He was the stage manager for the Annisquam Village Players for numerous years. As of 2019, Dan was a sawyer at Smith Hardware & Lumber. Dan was a hardworking, gentle, kind soul, a wonderful father, and devoted husband. He will be sorely missed.
In addition to his loving wife Seania, he is survived by four sons, Rory Imua Lampert of Richmond, CA, Aedan Lampert McCarthy and Liam Lampert McCarthy of Rockport, Rowan McCarthy Lampert and fiancé, Monroe Whyburn of San Marcos, TX; as well as sister, Marianne Procyk and brother, Jim Lampert of Stratford, CT and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Dan was also predeceased by his little brother, Bill Lampert.
His memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Rockport, 12 School Street, Rockport, MA on December 4th at 2 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
