Adult Sailing Program

Sandy Bay’s adult sailing program is one of the oldest and strongest of all North Shore yacht clubs. Sailing in Rhodes 19s and Bullseyes, students receive hands-on instruction in small, personal classes. Instruction is available for all ability levels; whether you’re an older teen, young adult, or seasoned salt, a beginner, or looking to hone some racing skills.

Classes begin in July and are available on a private or semi-private basis. Special rates apply for private or two-student classes. We will have instructors available Monday thru Thursday – Fridays and or weekends only by agreed upon schedule with instructors. Class starting times are generally flexible and should be determined mutually with instructors.

2021 Adult Sailing Covid Plan

In addition to the numerous SBYC Covid found on the club home page, several other “club boat” specific protocols must be adhered to. These mitigation rules are designed to provide as much safety for students, instructors, club staff and other club members who may use the club boats.

These rules include:

  • Face and Eye coverings must be worn at all times on boats
  • Use of hand washing and sanitizer before boarding launches and club boats
  • Wipe down common boat areas and equipment after use (disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer will be available on each boat)
  • One student per boat with the exception for two household students per boat
  • If you are not feeling well or have knowingly had contact with a Covid + individual please adhere to self-quarantine measures.

Membership of Sandy Bay Yacht Club is required to enroll in our sailing classes. For membership information go to this page.
